Freeport Mine Sky High
The Freeport copper and gold mine at the Grasberg in the mountains of Papua. This open pit mine started above 4000 meters; the Carstensz Glaciers are visible at the horizon. The truck in the foreground can handle up to 200 ton of ore.
Students in Jayapura have been demonstrating recently demanding that the US owned mine be closed.
